Call for Artists at the Workhaus

We want artists who are recognised as being at the far reaches of their disciplines, with challenging, even outrageous work.

We are an independent film cinema and art gallery located in the revitalised RopeWalks district of Liverpool, directly across country's most well known club, Cream. The Workhaus is home to the North by Northwest Independent Film and Video Festival celebrating underground films and notorious for it's cutting edge work.

Liverpool is hosting the UK's first ever Biennial at venues all over the city for 6 weeks from Sept 25th - Nov 7th. The Workhaus is involved in TRACEY , the Biennial's artist -led fringe festival , the most daring innovative section of the Biennial. Unconventional ideas and artistic freedom will be the hallmark of these exhibitions in found spaces and existing venues like The Workhaus.

We seek prepared exhibitions or installations, possibly controversial and definitely underground for a week long show during the Biennial. Art openings will be held every Friday and run through the following Wednesday with a film festival every Thursday evening. This will be an invigorating , exciting time for Liverpool, enhancing the visibility of our thriving art scene throughout Britain and Europe.
