Got the first time visitor blues?
Then let me explain...

chipworker designs sites. This site is my test bed and current collection of half-baked ideas. I use it to share and discuss anything relevant to computers and the web. Expect references to Liverpool, art & music, the Punk phenomenon, hardware & software configuration, programming, digital audio/video and web design.
I'm busy enough to have to neglect my own site a bit lately, which is good, so I've left it in a stable working condition with links only to functioning sites and files and to a few Perl items because it was so hard to find a Perl-Windows recursive directory listing example simple enough for a beginner to understand when I needed one.

  • Web/HTML (lower-right)
Snippets of HTML, Perl, ASP, PHP and anything related to web-page construction, as and when requested.
"Hosting Rants" generally takes a swing at Fasthosts.

  • Projects (middle-right)
A list of miscellaneous projects at varying stages of development, from complete websites to 3D rendering and digital video projects. Including :
Ed's Lego now gets a link because it's taken on a multimedia dimension that deserves inclusion, (the wacky world of stop-motion animation).

  • chipMedia
A couple of low bandwidth Flash audio players. These are used to test the final sound of audio streams I'm messin' with, which can be compared to their MP3 audio equivalents. Individual tracks and loops change occasionally.

  • Links
New links get added to the mid-front page first for a while then get put on the Tech, Personal or Oddball link-pages when the next useful, unusual or funny link wants that space.
    Tech : Windows, DV, CD-RW, Hardware/Software and Web-tech links.
Security : Free firewall and anti-virus software, port scans and information.
Personal : Links to sites that have little or nothing to do with information technology.
Oddball : Well made, sometimes remarkably, media and humour sites.

  • chipWorker About (left-lower)
Part CV, part personality profile. Designed to efficiently weed out people who might regret employing a 48 year-old (or 30 in hex), left wing ex-punk, and to delight people looking for exactly that.
