Racing Lines

There is always confusion about "The Racing Line". In real motorsport the reality of crashing forces drivers to only exploit the racing line when they are clear of following cars. The rest of the time they have to respect the proximity of their competitors, and... well... think of something.

This is the fastest line, but you all know that.
More importantly; it's a hot-lap line, or the line you'd use if you were in a race with collisions "off" and the road ahead is yours to own. If you're not side-by-side in Multiplayer with collisions "on" it's also the obvious choice.

This is a crude representation of a shared line.
If you can't vary your technique to follow a line like this , then don't race with collisions "on" in multiplayer.
Being half a car's length in front of an opponent does not entitle the "leader" to cut across the track to follow the hot-lap line just because you're not going to die horribly in a raging fireball. Everything you learned about apexing for the perfect corner during hot-lapping goes straight out of the window when you're side-by-side racing with collisions and damage "on", so be flexible.
